Force 50, no power

Compression is 120 in both cylinders. The plug in the bottom cylinder was fouled (wet) With the spark plug's out I removed the fuel line to the carb and ran a test hose from the fuel pump to a coffee can. Spun the engine with the starter and no fuel came out of the hose. But if I squeeze the fuel bulb at the tank I get fuel to the coffee can. Is this normal, does the engine have to be running for the fuel pump to work. When squeezing the bulb you can hear the fuel being pumped but the bulb never gets hard. I have new fuel in the tank and the vent open. I have low power, hard starting with the engine warm. Any ideas?
What is the plug gap for this engine? Is there a way to test the coil packs, besides putting your tongue on the plug wire and spinning the engine

Thanks all

Welcome, squeezing the bulb will push fuel past the pump.
It's designed to do this or the squeezie would be a useless part.
The reason for the squeezie is the pump is a low pressure pump and it doesn't have enough power to draw from the tank to supply the carb with fuel.
The gaps is around .035
You test for spark?

Haven't tested for spark yet, going to get a timing light and test that way

Tested for spark and both cylinders seem to be OK. However, I did find out that the water pump impeller was broken. Would high heat cause to boat to be hard to start after running. I know overheating will affect the power. I ordered a new water pump kit, but is there a way to check the motor power output without putting the boat in the water? This is my first boat so I am trying to learn all I can. I also ordered a repair manual for it, but any help is greatly appreciated. Books don't tell you all the secrets.

Thanks everyone

I think it could certainly contribute. Did the overheat buzzer ever sound?

Yes the buzzer sounded, but at the time I did not know what it was for at the time. Didn't stay on long at all, and I was at no wake speed
