Hi all,
A friend of mine just got a 1987 bayliner bass trophy boat with a force 50 motor on it. It has no power tilt or trim. He says when he took it out to the lake, everytime he went into reverse the motor flipped up out of the water. Is there suppose to be something that locks it down to the transom or to limit its movement?
We are both new to boats and I'm sure there is a quick little fix but just not sure what it is.. thanks

Look just under the front cowling where the mount attaches to the transom. There is a lever that locks the motor from coming up like that. Have same motor just two years newer.

Would that be the same lever that holds the motor in a raised position when trailering it?

I dont think so. On mine the lever that holds it up while trailered is on the side of the motor. The one that locks the motor is on the front of the motor just below the piece where the steering arm attaches to. The lever looks like a flat paddle if that helps you any.
