Hey yall,

First post here, this forum has been an amazing help. Looking for some answers on ordering a new throttle control for a 1987 Force 85. It has the OEM US Marine Throttle control currently, which is sloppy and loose and breaking.

Everything I've read says or implies that this control (these control cables) is not interchangeable with a basic universal new one.

The cabling is Teleflex or similar with threaded 10-32 ends.

I'm just curious why it isn't interchangeable -- do the ends not match up with proprietary connections? Aren't there adaptors? Or is it the way the cables actually function that's different? If no, then some guidance on what to order to replace the control cables ffor a newer throttle would be super helpful.

I've been trying to find info on this for hours with no luck. I worked in a boat yard for many years and have done a lot of mechanical and body work, but I've never had to do ordering or sorting out compatibility issues so the help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks again!

From my experience you can replace the remote control cables with Teleflex, Mores or other brands standard cables with 10-32 ends.
The connectors at the engine will fit from the old cables and also the connectors at the remote control.
Teleflex, Morse etc cables has 10-32 ends at both ends.
Universal remote controls, Chrysler remote controls and US Marine controls will fit you engine with Teleflex, Morse etc cables.
