Should this have a pin in there to lock the motor when adjusting the tilt/trim? Where can get one if I need it? Also can the boat be ran without it?

Thanks, Dan

Re: Force 85hp question

I use those holes for my trailering bracket when I'm towing the boat. I tilt the motor up and put the trailering bracket in the holes to keep the skeg up and away from the pavement. As far as I know, those holes are not generally used for adjusting the tilt or trim of your motor. That's what the hydraulic tilt and trim rams do while you're under way in the water.

The bracket looks like this which is for a smaller engine than yours.

Re: Force 85hp question

No you probably won't need it. However, if you tilt your motor up while trailering it with no added support, it puts quite a bit of strain on the hydraulic seals. That's why they call it a "trailering" bracket. Takes the stress off the hydraulics and keeps the bottom of the motor (skeg) away from the pavement. You tilt the motor up, install the bracket and lower the motor on to the bracket. Kind of like what you've done with the 2 X 4 in the picture.
