No you probably won't need it. However, if you tilt your motor up while trailering it with no added support, it puts quite a bit of strain on the hydraulic seals. That's why they call it a "trailering" bracket. Takes the stress off the hydraulics and keeps the bottom of the motor (skeg) away from the pavement. You tilt the motor up, install the bracket and lower the motor on to the bracket. Kind of like what you've done with the 2 X 4 in the picture.
