When running at fast idle for a minute or 2- if you go to speed up, the engine dies. If you start it up and rev the gas a couple of times it will finally accelerate. Goes fine at full speed. Accelerates ok except when running at slow speed then accelerating. Cleaned carbs etc. Any suggestions?

You will probably need to rebuild carbs instead of just cleaning them, Clean all the small passages in the carb with cleaner, a thin wire and compressed air. Then rebuild fuel pump and replace all your fuel lines and clamps.

To test if this is a fuel problem try choking motor when it is getting ready to die. If motor performance improves because of choking it is fuel related.

Thanks
I just took carbs off agin...Rebuilt pump, checked all lines. I'll put kits in tomorrow. hard to beleive it went bad on me. Set in garage for about a month. Ran great when before I put it in. Goes like heck at full throttle and low throttle - just dies when you hit it to accelerate.

Re: Force 90 Acceleration

Your post is almost identical to my very first post. It seems gas now a days sucks. If you leave the vent screw open for a week without using the motor water can condense and give you grief. It is recommended here to replace fuel filter diaphram every other year. I dont know about force but older chryslers are very sensitive about octane. I have to burn 87 octane so I cant use non oxiginated fuel for my motor. Just keep the can as full as possible, use stabilizer and keep the vent screw closed on weeks you are not using motor. Read FAQ post concerning decarbing motor.

Incorrect idle air mixture settings may have similar consequences, espeially if they are on the lean side.
