My motor starts and runs fine, will idle as long as I need it to, and then run fine, until it gets hot. Once it's run for about 20 minutes, the motor will kill and won't start again until it cools down. But once the motor cools off for an hour or two, it starts right up and runs perfectly. Anyone have any ideas on what to look for?

Re: Force 90 HP issue

Welcome to iboats.

What year is the motor?
If it has a telltale, is water coming out?

Water pump working? or getting weak?

Does the engine seize when it stops, or does it still spin?

If so, it could be ignition failing as it gets hot.
Or the water pump is shot.

If the water pump impeller has not been replaced in the last year, replace it. The thermostat too.

If the motors getting hot first thing i'd do is replace the impeller or just get the whole water pump kit. Cheap and easy. If that doesn't fix it at least you got the maintanence out of the way.
