I recently bought a 1990 Bayliner with a 50hp Force and have had nothing but problems so far. I got the boat at a really cheap price but dont know too much about fixing them. So far I had an ignition problem and had to replace the CDI box and the coils as well as disconnect the emergency shut off switch. Now, I was able to get the boat running but am not getting any water at all from the exhaust ports. I have been using the square muffs and have yet to put it in a tank. My question is even though I have yet to actually test the motor in a tank chances are I have already burnt the water pump up anyways right? And also I forgot to mention that this boat has sat for six years with out starting so it is a miracle it even turned over. Aslo I know there is some kinda of gear lube I am suppose to put in the lower unit but where. Please excuse my lack of knowledge but I am hard headed and do not want to pay a Marine Mechanic ninty dollars and hour to get my boat back sometime this winter. Please advise on what I should be looking for with this motor???? It ran for about five minutes before the overheat alarm came on and I shut it off at that point
