Has anyone dealt with boats.net? If so, what was your experience like with them? I placed an order 7 days ago for my Force 125 and it has yet to ship. They say they are still waiting on the water pump which has been backordered. Also, the first email I sent to them took 5 days to get a response. I am considering cancelling the order and ordering elsewhere but we need this boat ready for labor day weekend. Does anyone know somewhere else that will have this water pump and also a gear seal kit in stock ready to ship? There are also a few other things I need such as trim/tilt cylinder O-rings but Im not near as worried about those as I am the seal set and water pump kit.

Thanks
Robert

Re: Force engines and boats.net

If your supplier uses seirra for parts, bad news they are backordered on impellers by about 700 peices. I don't know what seals you need either.

But if availabilty is the priority then check out franzmarine.com he seems to have everything but be sure to have year model and serial number ready, it makes him happier :) he will answer the phone personally and work with you. He is the best trained and experienced chrysler tech I know of, he knows of Frank so he must not be to bad :D

I've never had a problem with them in the past 2 or 3 years that I've been dealing with them. Never ordered a water pump kit from them though. If I have parts that I need right away, I usually call to confirm availability regardless of which site I use because I've been through exactly what you're going through. One of the pitfalls of ordering on-line.

The water pump kit is NOT a Sierra part, or at least it does not have a sierra part number. I believe it is a mercury part. The part number is 12-FK1069.

Re: Force engines and boats.net

try ordering just the impeller. water pump housing is probably cause for delay.

I would but the housing has some pitting so Id like to replace it as well. I have checked around and looks like it will be the same everywhere so Im going to give them a few more days and then I may cancel the water pump kit.

Yes, I have just spoke with Max motorsports about an hour ago and he said he has it in stock and will ship once he receives paypal payment. I have already contacted boats.net to cancel the water pump and once confirmed I will order it from max.

They wanted a 20% restock fee as well. I told them that since the part was on backorder until the 25th they could charge the restock fee but I would make sure it was my last order with them. I dont think Im being charged a restock fee. They told me earlier it was on backorder until the 25 and then turned around and just said they were unaware it was backordered for that long and will gladly cancel it and ship the rest of the order.

Sometimes I wander about how some companies are handled. I will still purchase from them in the future but I think it may only be items that are confirmed in stock as pnwmoat mentioned. It just gets aggravating when 1 thing changes to another over and over, it may not be boats.net's fault but at this point I feel it could have been handled differently, maybe by letting me know in the beginning that it was on back order fo that length of time and asking if I would still like to order it. However, at the same time, if they are a large company then they may not have the time to handle each independent customer in that fashion. At any rate, I will still buy from them in the future and maybe things will be better later.
