If anyone can answer a question about the trim an tilt,I have read every post in here and have not found the right question yet.

I have a 1989 force 125hp model 1251a9a and at first the tilt used to leak off but with some info found here that was fixed using the seals from a briggs engine.

the trim works ok up and down the tilt only works down if the motor is all the way down and you trim up the motor comes up to the point the tilt should raise it up the motor changes pitch like it does when it reaches the end of it travel
but if you pick up on the motor it will come up with help.I changed the seals in the valve for up and down and the shuttle valve moves freely
and the trim valve is working but it sounds like fluid in the pump is moving like it's by passing
I did have the pump apart and I'm pretty sure it;s back together ok but I found a diagram of the valve body and it says the bearings are supposed to be under the springs instead if up by the gears is this correct or not?

Re: force tilt&trim

Check to be sure your trim is sitting flat on the cylinder.

I fixed the trim cylinder as it was a wee bit cocked to the side. This worked but I could not get 1 bolt out as it broke. I figured that 4 bolts would hold it. That did for 1 ride now its cocked in the cylinder again! And again the trim/tilt is not working. Arge! Will either remove it altogether and just tilt manually or will get the bolt out somehow.

Did you try using an easyout to get the broken bolt out?

An easyout is kinda like a tap but has left hand threads.

just drill a small hole in the end of the broken bolt and (screw to the left)and has the easy tightens into the broken bolt it turns it out
