I'm helping out a friend who did not winterize the engine in his boat. It is a Ford 351W

I see that it has 6 core plugs on each side. On the left side, two popped, and on the right side, one popped. I told him I would need to install new core plugs and then take on the water to see if the oil and water will mix and find out if the block is cracked.

Are the core plugs the same as those of the marine and car versions? The marine core plugs are very slim? I want to order new ones and want to make sure I order the right ones

Ford used the thin ones to save a few pennies. Just install whatever you can get in brass. How are the manifolds, are they cracked?

Ayuh,..... Or just isolate the block from the rest if the system with plugs or whatever, plumb an air fitting into a block drain, 'n add 'bout 15 psi of air, 'n listen,....
If it's cracked, you'll hear it, then follow the sound, to the problem,......
