Re: Forgot to tell my wife...

Sometimes I don't know how she catches on, sometimes she misses the obvious. Before I bought our first rowboat she caught me out in the yard painting a pair of oars. Later she mentioned that it seemed odd that I was painting oars when we didn't even own a boat...as far as she knew.

As far as my toys and hobbies are concerned ,any thing under a couple hundred bucks My wife is on a need to know basis anything over that gets discussed this system works well for us :)

Re: Forgot to tell my wife...

Had the boat before I met my wife. She's been to a couple boat shows now and has our next new one picked out - including the color and options. I figure if she's involved in the process, it makes life so much easier. Then she can't complain at the price.

I give her a lot of credit as she chased off the salesperson from Smithboys of Buffalo. We were looking at a 22' open bow Sea Ray to replace the 19'6" Four Winns. It had no storage on the sides or any other place to put our fishing gear. This boy, and I call him a boy as he was definitely younger than both of us, said we could put the fishing poles into the ski locker. My wife gave him "The Look" and was promptly followed by "I'm not putting my fishing pole in there". This boy didn't realize what he was up against and instead said "Ohh you can, its large enough your hubby can lie down in it!" Again my wife countered "Not with our fishing gear" (and another of "The Look"). He got chased off at that point.

BTW: To keep my wife happy with the fishing gear, she selected the pole and then the matching reel. Cost me $80 but she's happy to use it when fishing and that's the goal.

Did the same thing with the Tundra purchase.

So...as long as mine's been involved, there hasn't been a major issue with a major purchase.

I don't actually have anything to say but I had to post because this is such an excellent title for a thread. Makes me smile.

You can leave the house with an empty gun case and say you are going to the range for the afternoon and come back with it full and then put the new gun away in the safe and never be noticed. Too bad you can’t leave in the morning with an empty boat trailer and use the same routine.

Mine went with me for yesterdays purchase and even bought me dinner on the way home. I offered to pay and she said no it is new boat day and that only comes 3 times a year. This year if you count the canoe that would be true. :) A little zinger.

What are you doing in the yard with those 2 old oars! get it?

I'm lucky, I saw a boat at the RV dealer I was getting parts from for our camper. I texted my wife a pic. She texed back "Dream on, how much is it LOL" I told her the price, she texted back "I'll be right there!"

Re: Forgot to tell my wife...

Funny stories!! This is an excellent thread... when in the search of our next boat, I showed a pic of a boat to my wife... The boat was completely off of our buget... she says "no way... but forward me the ad...", couple of days later she emailed the owner back and forth and got the boat down into our budget... then she told me we went to meet the owner (rich guy wanted to get rid of the boat... money was not an issue for him)... sea trial... more negotiation, then we got the boat... :)
If it wasn't for her... I would have probably spent more... that was the boat I wanted...

God love my wife, I told her thank you for not giving me a hard time about buying the boat. She replied "no problem, but it is not like I had a choice". If she only knew....I let her keep thinking that way though.
