its steel I put a magnet on it and its flak steel in alum.jpg ey, then I put a small drill bit and its all 100% magnetic.

Which piece are you talking about? I thought you meant the area with the brown stuff.

I bet that glob is JB Weld epoxy, which can contain iron and/or steel.

If it were truly pure steel, it would have to be molten in order to glob up like it shows in the pic. And steel has a melting point twice as high as aluminum, so it would leave burn marks on the aluminum, if not melt right through that thin sheet.

Again, I'd say to try grinding it out of there and see how it goes.

OK, I'm trying to figure out the best way to plug/waterproof all the old holes before I have the new motor installed.
I'm going with a 90 zuki four,so im sure the hole pattern will be completely different. I have epoxied my new transom in one pc/no ears.
how about 1/4 alum plate over outside with 5200 complete coverage? any and all tips GREATLEY APPRECIATED. trans holes.jpg
