Frank, My engine is giving me trouble

My latest project. 1997 40 HP Force. Rust in the top cylinder, rust and sand in the bottom. Most likely a bad exhaust gasket or perforated plate. This engine is too far gone to repair economically. It might clean up with .030 overbore but I doubt it. Then with the sand---I don't know the condition of the crank and bearings. It's a shame because it is otherwise a nice little engine!

Not to get political, but I would not use that "snake-oil" even in this engine. It deserves better treatment.

LMAO.. Nice pic's.. Considering it's a Force I'd say it would be best served as a mooring bouy anchor. Seriously though, with that much corrosion on the cylinder walls, you have to remember that the deepest damage can't be more than .015 deep. If a .030 over bore does clean it up, it's the last chance for that motor. If you got it for free then make it a boat anchor. If you paid good money for it, well, sorry to hear that.
