A while back I put up a server to be used, but it had to come down because the laptop started getting used for other things.<br /><br />I now have a dedicated server up for anyone who would like to use it, it's a permanent server.<br /><br />for picture hosting:<br /><br /> ftp://66.136.189.194 <br /><br />username iboats<br />password iboats<br /><br />just make a directory with your iboats forum name and then you can link to it by:<br />ex: for me, "ndemge" if I uploaded a pictured named "boat.jpg"<br /><br /> http://66.136.189.194/iboats/ndemge/boat.jpg <br /><br />would be the link to use in the forums<br /><br />if you would like to setup your own webpage, let me know, I can set you up with your own directory.

I take it you are a web expert ndemge! Do you have to buy space with a web page host if you want a personal web page or can you easily dedicate an old computer to be a server and host your own page like you seem to be doing? Sry for the off topic, but your post begged the question as I am looking into setting up a site.

the link is ftp not http format...<br />even tried to change to http, but no luck.

ok, took out the index file so you can see what you have<br /><br /> http://66.136.189.194/iboats/ <br /><br />when you ftp to 66.136.189.194 and enter iboats in as username and password, it is actually taking you to the /iboats/ directory....<br /><br />sooooo<br /><br />mellowyellow: your pictures are at:<br /> http://66.136.189.194/iboats/mellowyellow/ <br /><br />SCO... Have this on an old compaq presario 500mhz... doesn't take much to push a few pictures on a wepage. I have a few static external IP's on my DSL line...<br /><br />if you want a place to host a website, I can just make you a directory....<br /><br />this ip will have a name in a couple days... will let you know so you don't have to access by ip anymore.

Also... don't use spaces in directory names or file names<br /><br />I have removed the spaces that were in the pat directory, and in yoru picture mellow<br /><br />...the problem that arrises, you must use " %20 " as a "space" .... windows doesn't care if you use spaces, but the internet does.

...helps if you make the directory and upload the picture :) <br /><br />but you've got the right Idea for what your path would be

Apparently, this should not be attempted by blondes. Still can't make it work, I think this is over my head. :( <br /><br />Nice pic Pointer, my kinda dog, my kinda beer. :)

now that I have a folder, how do I add to it?<br />make a new folder for each pic? will try to<br />import one to existing folder...

MY,<br /><br />You can put multiple pictures into your one existing folder.
