Whichever kit you get you will need a crankshaft driven raw water pump pulling from the bottom of the boat with a valve to close off the water should you need to service the crank driven pump. The drive pump needs to be connected with a “Y” pipe to the incoming water. This way the drive pump keeps the drive cool. This makes it easy to run the engine on a flush out.
Try Marine Power in Ponchatoula, La. They have fresh water cooling kits.
Believe me, the drive pump will not keep a heat exchanger cooled engine cool. Especially a V8.

alpha drive will only support a half system

as Kenny stated, a full system requires more flow

Most "Kits" are difficult for the Heat Exchanger OEM's as they have to buy 100 brackets and components at a crack to keep it cost effective for the end user.

so they quit making kits as most sit on the shelf collecting dust.

I make my own parts for HX kits. then again, I used to work for Champ

if you get a HX for the Mercruiser 6.2, I can sketch up the plumbing routing (or look at mid 90 volvo pentas) converting to a full kit. you would have to make your own brackets and source some parts on your own.

ok so i should look for the half kit that just cools block ,because full kit with pump will not be a true full closed kit ,and not compatible with alpha 1 gen 1 ,correct?
