I am posting this for my neighbor - he asked his son if he had "fixed" the front eye bolt.

I dont know its proper name, but it is the eye that you hook your winch onto to pull the boat up on the trailer..

Neighbor gets home after a 3 hour drive at speeds up 75. He notices that the eye bolt has pulled itself 95% of the way through the hull, basically another big bounce and that boat was toast. Not to mention anyone traveling behind him at the time.

I looked at the hole and it is rotted around the edge on the inside.

Would you just patch this and install a bolt in a new place or patch and install in the same place?

Thnx

Tomatolord

By the way - the boat is for sale - it is a 15ft mckee with a 60hp that has been in salt water the boat has many holes in it from moving the seats around and this hole in the front and my guess is he never rinsed it out after using it in the salt - he thinks he can get 2500 for it!

I would repair the damage and install a new bow eye in the same place with a solid backing.

Year? Location?

It is a 15foot mckee in raleigh nc, dont know the year, but I can find out.

boat is in good shape otherwise

I have the same boat with a 40 and they are quite fun.

In rough water you take a pounding with these flat hulls.

tomatolord
