Well now that my old man is retired he is taking it out on the house. The kitchen is finaaly done, and he has moved on to the outside of the house. My parents have been talking about a Bay Window for years and are now putting a huge one in front of the house. Today my dad and I decided it was a good day to tear out the front bushes.

Here are the pics.

I am now in the process of designing a deck to put up there. We are pretty sure we are going to be using some sore of composite decking. We then plan to get a nice little round patio set for up there. Should be a great place to sit out and read the paper or drink some coffee. The back yard will be getting a large deck next spring.

Here's a cool video of a bush vs a truck!
I think the truck wins.....

Sounds like your Dad is catching up on what he wanted to do! I agree on a small deck.... a nice place to sit while enjoying retirement!

Thanks for the pics and video, that looks like fun! I've seen attempts at that where the bush (or tree stump) won. :)

Dang Pony, I have done that on cedars and it'll just about rip the frame of your truck apart! Hope you had the seat belt on!

Re: Front Porch Remodel

When we first got our house, it had a big long string of bushes like that. Jerked them all out with my service van. What helped us was putting an old rim next to the bush under the tow strap. Then when I pulled, the strap then pulled the bush upwards to help it break loose from the ground. That was an old trick I learned on the farm pulling out old fence posts. Looking good Pony!
