Hey guys. I took the boat out today and when I got home I was checking the boat over before putting her away and I noticed the the power steering fluid was "milkshake". How did I get water in the powersteering pump? Can air in the line cause it to do that? I didn't bleed it when I reattached the lines after reinstalling the engine.

Any thoughts?

The power steering cooler is the ONLY way for water to get into the PS system.

Hi D!

That power steering cooler was probably cracked from a previous freeze.....Sometimes water can pool in the oil/PS cooler even when you drain everything else...

Ayuh,.....

After you change out the Cooler,...

The system can be Purged by disconnecting the Return Line from the Pump,+ routing it to a catchpan,...

Then start the motor, have somebodyelse turn the wheel lock to lock, while you pour ATF into the reservoir as it empties into the catchpan.....

THANKS FOR THE QUICK REPLIES! Hey Rick, the boat is doing good. I have to invest in a lower pitch prop but otherwise I'm loving it.
