Frozen trim pin on 6hp?

I have an 87 Johnson 6 hp that runs great and looks good. The only issue with the motor is that the pin that goes through the one of the sets of 5 holes in the mounting yoke ( to adjust trim angle) is rusted in place . ( It was stored on a sailboat, at sea for a season.) . I've tried liquid wrench/PB blaster, vice grips/twisting and even a little heat (applied to the steel pin.) but it won't budge. i'm afraid to hit anything hard and or use allot of heat as I'm not sure I wouldn't crack the aluminum yoke. Any suggestions appreciated!

cut it off and starting with a small drill bit, drill it out. stay in the center of the pin.

Don't be surprised if it is undrillable though. Some of those things are pretty hard stuff.

Heat the aluminum. Hot hot. It won't crack. It will melt, but has to be hotter than hot hot to do that. Heating metal makes it expand and aluminum expands faster/more than steel, causing it to lose it's tight grip.

exactly, you were heating the wrong thing, you dont want the pin expanding, rather the base. Heat it up, then take the sledge and punch to it, or simply cut it off like TD said, would probably be easier.

Thanks Guys. I'll try drilling/filling it a bit to see how hard the pin is. If it's reasonable/drillable, I'll try the cut and drill method. if not, i'll break out a torch latter in the year. ( Maybe if the motor/pin is real cold, it won't take a ton of heat to break the bond.)

if you have acess to an air chistle using a dull knotched blade and putting vibration via the air chisle will have it loose in 2 minutes,i did it many times ,even with v-6 engines,the vibration frees up the rust in a heartbeat,you might have luch tapping it in the center with a hammer,its vibration ,not power that does it,i use the same technique for frozen bolts,jut vibrate the head with air chisle ,but using a punch head,low power,and believe it or not,the bolt often backs out,great for powerhead bolts
