Hey guys. I'm getting the oh-so common fuel bulb sucking flat at wide open throttle. Everything up to about 3/4 throttle is fine although it still gets sucked down... but at wide open it actually bogs the engine.
So here's my steps so far:
-89' Action Craft flats boat... bought with a poorly-running 95' Evinrude 115. Boat sat for a year or so before I bought it.
-Put on a 07' Mercury 90 2 stroke carb'd.
-First time out I noticed the fuel bulb getting sucked down even when barely getting up on plane.
-Opened up the fuel cap to see if there was a vacuum in the tank due to a clogged vent. Nothing changed.
-Put on a new, much firmer fuel bulb and blew 15 psi into the fuel lines from the tank side of the fuel/water filter. Could hear the bubbles in the fuel tank when I did this. Took it out for a run and now it will run at 3/4 throttle all day but the bulb still goes flat. Wide open bogs it down after about 30-40 seconds.
-Tonight after being out on the water I replaced the fuel/water filter to see if it helps. I don't really think it will though.
What I THINK is going on is there's something blocking the fuel at the pick up in the tank. The problem is there's no way to get into the tank to clean it out (much). All I have is a hole about 3" across that holds the fuel level sender. I guess I can get my liquid vac from work (I work at a auto shop) and suck the tank out... hoping to get the residue with it... but other than that I really don't know what I should try next. I don't think I have any anti-siphon valves so I've pretty much ruled that out also.
Thanks in advance for your help.
