richmllr,<br /><br />I think it is reasonable considering the weight comment. I get around 3.3 but my 23' is probably lighter and MPI.<br /><br />

Just a tidbit. Mercruiser uses GM and Ford engine blocks. Most everything else is Mercury. Designed and built to run hard whereas the car-truck that the automotive mfgr used the engine in only ran in the lower thousands of rpm's....like you run your boat at 3500 to 4500 (or whatever) for your trip whereas your road vehicle is sitting on 2000 at 70 mph.<br /><br />Agree on the importance of oil. If it were perfect, there would be no friction. No friction means no heat, no wear. Engines would last a lifetime.<br /><br />My 2c<br /><br />Mark
