I have Evinrude 9.9 recent model probably six year old, low hours. Starts fine but at open throttle does not hit max rpms until engine runs 5 min or so. Does not miss, no fuel in prop wash. After a while rpms jumps up to max. Fuel line connection tight. Any ideas of problem and what to fix?

Re: fuel delivery help

Get a can of Deep Creep (Sea Foam in a can) from an autoparts store.

Get access to the carb's air inlet (remove cowl and anything in the way).

Get out on the water and hammer down on it while it's cold. Spray some creep into the carb throat. If you take off, you have a fuel delivery problem.

Since 5 minutes says engine is heating up, and heat means expansion, very possible that you have a float valve/float sticking in your carb so put a carb kit in it.

Try it and get back here.

Thanks, I'm on it. Will try the Deep Creep, see what happens. Thanks. Then the carb kit.
