Pete, I had the same style boat with a 225/EFI .
The one trip I did without any motor problems, the economy was amazing.
Going to look at a 2001 225/ Optimax this morning.
If it looks good? Then I'll have a bunch of Force stuff for sale.

Let's not confuse technologies.
You will see very little difference between a carb and EFI 2 stroke. Not worth making the change. Jumping up to a 2 stroke DFI or a 4 stroke EFI will give you a 25-30% increase in economy

Boats and airplanes have one thing in common. Neither are fuel efficient.Though a sail plane may be more efficient than a row boat but less than a sailboat.
