Last season my fuel gauge seemed to fluctuate too much so I replaced the sender in the spring prior to launch.

Didn't seem to help much. Could it be the gauge itself? Can I add some capacitance to the gauge to reduce the "ringing"?

I see no reason a capacitor couldn't be used to stabalize the level. You do need to consider how much flucuation you are getting, to properly size the capacitor though. You don't want some monster cap in there, that's going to keep the gauge at 1/2 when you are down another 1/4 of a tank.
