hi everyone,

I have a fuel issue and I feel like an idiot but cant seam to figure out

it seams when I don't connect the fuel line to the fuel filter the bulb primer get the gas there quickly

but when it connect its like it has trapped air and no matter how much I sqeese the bulb it does not get up there.

I have a clear inline fuel filter and see that it does not go.

is it a carb issue and its not allowing the fuel to go out...

or a fuel pump need new gaskets

im just very confused

and ideas??

thanks

Re: fuel issue

Okay am I understand you to say that if you bypass the clear inline fuel filter and go straight to the fuel pump the primer bulb will pump up and get firm, BUT if you install the inline fuel filter and then pump the primer bulb it won't get firm...? If so you have either an inline fuel stoppage or it is leakng and therefore the primer bulb will not pump up firm...

Re: fuel issue

The primer bulb fills the carb. bowls then firms up when full. After starting, the pump takes over. If you can't fill the bowl/s till full, you might have the filter in backwards, the bulb in backwards,. Just follow the arrows.

Re: fuel issue

You don't say what engine. however: Disconnect the fuel line from the carb OR the bottom carb and work the primer bulb. If fuel squirts out, then the pump is not clogged. Now, you may have stuck inlet needles in the carbs. remove and clean them.

If no fuel comes out, then the fuel pump is clogged. Remove the pump (assuming it is the old style two stage, not Mercury square pump) and check the button valves to see that they are not varnished shut. Check the screen in the black plastic cap to be certain it is not filled with debris.

Re: fuel issue

If you squeeze the ball? and it doesn't firm up.
Either the ball is bad or the fuel pump diaphram has a hole.
I've bought new squeezies(tempo) and they were bad right out of box.
Or the needle/seat isin't working,if it's this the gas should pour out of the carb.
