I've got a 90hp Tower of Power serial number 6571331 that the center carb is leaking (dripping) fuel out the at the Plug that goes to the Main Fuel Nozzle. Any ideas why all of a sudden?? Is there a way to fix it without taking carbs off? I have tried to see it it had loosened up, seems tight to me. If I have to take carbs off, how can I tell which carb kit I need to repair? I thought it was the main fuel jet plug, but after replacing the gasket on it, it still leaks. Thanks for your insight.

The brass plug is a taper fit, and is usually covered with a substance like nail polish. I would first try to tighten the plug. Failing that, remove it and put some fuel resistant sealer on it. Permatex makes some, or you can clean it with alcohol or acetone and put wife's nail polish on it.

Thanks, I ended up pulling the carb off, could not get a good grip on screw driver to check tightness. It was tight. It did not have anything on it. Bought a OEM plug and gasket off Ebay and will reassemble this weekend with Permatex. Thanks again for the help

OK, we seem to be talking about different plugs. The hex plug on the front of the carb uses a gasket. The slotted brass plug on the bottom of the carb is a taper fit, without a gasket.

The black Permatex (number 2 or 3) is a bad idea. The fuel will dissolve it. Use some nail polish (with drying time), or Permatex Permashield fuel resistant sealer on it.

Thanks Chris1956, I thought that it was the brass plug on the front of the carb so went ahead and replaced the gasket it first, but still leaked, that's when I purchased a new slotted plug. I wrapped the threads with yellow Teflon tape. Did a lot of research first before I did the wrapping. All kinds of opinions on Teflon tape, go figure. The yellow Teflon tape I used said "For gasoline" so feel comfortable using it. Took it out Saturday night and had zero leaks. AGAIN, Thanks for your help.
