I've got a 7.5 hp 1954 Fleetwin. I would like to relocate the 6 gallon tank to the front of my 12' tin boat.

My fuel line is too short. Need a fuel line that is about 10'. Can I buy 20' of fuel line, cut it in half and route both lines back to the connector or do I need to look for a vintage fuel line on ebay (came up once and it was 100').

Tx.

Joe

Re: Fuel Line for Pressure tank

I have found that the double line hose available today is not of very good quality. I would go to an auto store and buy their best quality fuel line. Take your fuel connector with you to get the right size. I once had a boat with several gallons of fuel on the floor after one of those old double lines burst with the fuel cap closed. Another time a big puddle on the shop floor for same reason. I don't like those old pressure tanks. When I was a kid, a friend of mine was running his ten horse Johnson when the fuel line under the hood burst. He did not think to open the fuel cap,and that was one spectacular fire. Melted the pot metal hood right off.

Hello Joe.
If you come across the lake down to Rochester, there at 585-323-1010 you can get high quality double fuel line hose.Last week he had at least 50'left on his roll.
He might be a good one to get to know.He has spare parts for anything from 1900 to 1972 and he repairs them too. After 1972 he will not touch it.He does not like that modern stuff.

Steam_mill I know where you can get the hose right here in Ontario at a place call Spae-Naur{German}its in Kitchener. They won't know what you are asking for but it's in their catalog. Ask them to send you a catalog lots of neat stuff, from odd ball tools and screws to 100' PVC dock bumper. I know they have the small rubber bead that your 1954 Evinrude motor lid fits on I had to get some for my 1958 18 Hp. Johnson.

Replacement double fuel hose is available from your local BOMB dealer in 50 foot rools...cut to the needed length!

See if your auto parts store has braided fuel line. It will not burst!
