while trouble shooting my primer bulb for my 140 j/e, i found that the female quick fitting was allowing air to cause problems.
i tried my spare and got the same result- system wouldnot hold pressure.
both are new and barley used.
-
my question is who makes a better quick connection for the fuel lines?
the old chrysler/force looks good to me.
has anyone else had this problem?

I don' even use those disconnects anymore. In addition to being an ideal place for leaks, they restrict the fuel flow. I use barbs and hose clamps.

c/6
Hooty

that just makes it hard swapping tanks when you need to really fast.
am hoping to find someone that has a better setup other than the fitting with barbs. thanx

I recently had a problem that I thought was a fitting or primer bulb problem. I turned out to be a split in the pick up tube inside the tank. It was sucking air when the fuel got low & wouldn't let the bulb get hard or hold pressure any time.

Use only OMC lines, Bulbs and fittings. The others are junk!

i used a barbed fitting as hooty suggested, while testing.
thats how i know it is the actual female fitting.
-
the barbed fitting is the best way to go, i wished i could go that route.

I used to carry a couple of the o rings for the connectors. They are relatively easy to replace and a common point of failure.

O rings ought to be inside the female socket in most style connectors, probably down in there a ways sitting in a groove. Might try a skinny needle nose pliers or a small wire hook to grab it with for removal. Make sure you are using replacement o rings designed for use with fuel. Hardware store o rings may or may not work. The middle of the lake is usually not a good place to discover that it was the wrong material.

First you need to use only OMC or OEM equal O rings. A hook works best as Bearcat mentioned but I have used a very small screwdriver to get the old one out when a hook was not around. I used to put the new one in my mouth to get some saliva for a lubricant when installing the new one.
