Just to keep this thread alive and kicking. My next door neighbor owns a flooring company and has a forklift at this warehouse around the corner. One Sunday morning, I pulled the boat over there and we lifted the motor with his forklift. Took us about 1.5 hours to lift the motor, pull the old cable out, run the new cable, connect everything up and put the motor back on. It was a much easier job than I expected.
I've had one unsuccessful trip out (had to get a tow back in .. thanks Boat US) .. and two successful trips out. I think I'm battling a water in the fuel problem now. Current theories mostly involve either the seal around the sending unit or the vent tube.
