I have a 1989 Johnson 175 GT that I am working on. It is very hard starting because the starter seems to disengage at the slightest sign of starting. I have read that these are designed this way, but it prevents any cranking because when even one cylinder fires, the starter disengages.
The engine runs fine once it is started, with no signs of any problems.
While trying to start it, I tried using the choke and noticed fuel almost pouring out of a small red lever that is on, what I think, is the choke solenoid.
Can anyone tell me what this lever is for, which position it should be in, and what my problem might be?
