Fuel Problem????

I replaced the spark plugs on my motor the other day and now it just turns over and will not start. Checked the spark and it is good on all 3 cylinders. So I figured it wasnt getting fuel cause you can spray fluid in the carbs and it will start for about 2 seconds and die and the bulb is still hard. So I started disconnecting fuel lines and pumping the bulb to see if I had obstructions any where. I pulled the lines all the way to the first carb and it is making it there but is it possible that the clog is in the needle valve or seat? That is the only thing that I can think of at this point. If you have any other troubleshooting ideas send them my way please.

Re: Fuel Problem????

fuel problem for sure - rebuild fuel pump and carbs - dont do one with out the other and save another headache . the fact you can get it running by spraying fuel in the carbs confirms this .

Re: Fuel Problem????

You could pull the top off of the carbs to see if the needle seat is stuck closed or maybe even rap on the carb with the handle of a screw driver to see if that works before doing a carb overhaul. This is not to say you don't need to rebuild them, that depends on how long it has been since they were last done and what condition they are in. If in fact you do have a stuck needle seat you may want to rebuild them any way.

Thanks guys I will be checking the needle seat today when I get home and if/when I find the right parts to rebuild the carbs I will take of that also. Thanks for the help!

Re: Fuel Problem????

Hope you were spraying mixed fuel in the carbs, not starting fluid. Starting Fluid has no lubricant in it, you know.
