Hi guys, I have a 1990 90 horse mercury 2 storke. I have been having some fuel problems for awhile now, and trying to figure it out. What the deal is, is when I give the motor some throttle on the muffs, the carbs make a sucking sound like there not getting fuel, and then it will just die after I let off the throttle.
Well, I bought one of the glass fuel filters to see what the fuel was doing. Here is the deal, I pump the primer bulb to get some fuel in the filter, so the fuel goes in, but if you let it set for just awhile, the fuel goes right back out of the filter, and it's empty. Any ideas what could be causing that?
One other question. When the motor is running right, the fuel filter should be full at all times shouldn't it? Reason I ask is, when I did get it to running for just awhile, the fuel just seemed to be sloshing into the bottom of the fuel filter, and not filling it up completely.
I did have to rebuild the fuel pump on this motor, because of the fuel pump diaphragm wore out on it, and I put the check valves back in like they say to do. It's almost seeming like a check valve problem, possibly fuel connector problem at the motor? I put a brand new primer bulb on it.
Thanks.
