Just got my new check valve kit and installed. Motor wont stop until I shut it off. It is a thing of beauty. If anybody gets a fuel pump kit for an old motor, make sure it has the check valves in it and not just the diaphram and gaskets. Changing those first could have saved me alot of time and frustration. But in the process of trying to fix it I not only replaced some old parts that may have failed later, I have a much greater knowledge of the way outboards work. Thanks everybody for your input in helping me get my motor running. Hopefully I can be a help to someone else in the future.

Starkey, Check to see that the ignition switch grounds the killer wire in the motor harness, when it is switched off.
