yes it is me again. how are you guys?

to the question. i mentioned last week about the idle going up and down, then running fine while squeezing the primer bulb.

i took the fuel pump off and discovered it is ran off the exhaust. Is that right?

i saw the membrane that looks like 2 membranes stuck togather in the middle. there was a tear in it. does this all fit togather?

I also noticed on laingsoutboards that it has a repair kit for 25hp gale, but the years are '58-6? i have a '57. is this the same?

i tried to call Jeff at laings but i was too late.

You say Laings has it?? That's surprising. That pump has been obsolete for nearly 40 years. Just put on a new pump, part number 18-7351, right here at iboats. The hose nipples come out at a different angle, but so what??

im calling around localy to find a fuel pump. they want to know what year evinrude 15hp. i can bring my old pump in but if you all know what i should be looking for it would help.

i called laings today and to ship it overnight is more than the pump itself so i'll look local.

That number I gave you is Sierra Marine. Any marine dealer can get Sierra. So can NAPA Auto Parts Stores. and Advance Auto Parts. That number I gave is a direct replacemant for Evinrude/Johnson 438562.

Don't worry about the year and all that stuff. You are giving them the part number. That's all they need. They made the same basic pump under many different part numbers for many years and many different models. If it is similar size, has one big and one little hose fittings, and fits without the hoses interferring with something, it will work. Just don't get the little square one that is only for small motors. Or one with more than the two mentioned hose fittings.

I'm not sure about the Gales's but on the OMC's there was no fuel pump in '57 thus yours is already probably an aftermarket/retrofitted pump.

It did come straight from the factory with a fuel pump. Gale was way ahead of their Johnson/Evinrude cousins on that. J/E offered it as an accessory. Gale gave it to you as standard equipment.
