I just did a bit of work on my boat getting it ready for the season. I was having what appeared to be fuel starvation at high RPM's but it was intermittant so I wanted to rule out an ignition/timing issue so I changed the cap + rotor, plugs + wires. Rebuilt the carburetor. New fuel/water separator.<br />I still have intermittant problems at speeds approaching and over 3000 rpm. Not always at the same spot. It feels like something is just stopping the flow of fuel to the engine. Is there a screen on the fuel pick-up in the tank that could be getting clogged by debris? It seems to come and go with no ryhme or reason. I'm thinking it might be the pump, but then wouldn't it be more consistent?
