i rebuilt the fuel pump and the check valves are different. its a 1979 merc 70hp. <br />one is aluminum with a rubber seat the other is anodized metal with a plastic seat.<br />the instructions said place the red one facing up and the white one down.<br />i noted how they came out but it may not have been installed correctly to begin with.<br />they are silver (aluminum one) Gold (anodized one)<br />I asumed alum is white and gold is red but the valve seat on the gold one is white plastic?<br />and maybe the rubber seat was red rubber?<br /><br />any ideas?
