fuel pump repair kit part #

I have a 18 hp evinrude, 1973 model. I can't find a diaphram kit for my fuel pump. Everybody keeps trying to sell me a fuel pump for 80 bucks. They keep telling me they don't make a repair kit for my fuel pump. Is that true, will a repair kit from another model fit mine? Any website suggestions for parts would be helpful, all locals want to sell me a new pump.

Doesn't look like BRP/Evinrude lists one and neither does Sierra (aftermarket parts). One site did say that replacing the pump for that model was the thing to do as a rebuild would be difficult and unreliable (maxrules.com).

kit # 18-7823 looks the same as mine. Everybody lists it up to a 15 hp though. If it matches up it will work right.
