Re: fuel= range

I find a bit safer to figure out and amount of hours i can run because i can be pushing through a wicked chop at 8 MPH burning 5 GPH

OR

Crusieing at 3500 RPM 28 MPH burning 5 gallons per hour :)

Giveing me a range between 50 and 150 miles

Re: fuel= range

I guess that's the half-joking point I was making. Whenever I (and I'd think anyone running a planing boat) thinks about range, ita lways comes down to MPG, not GPH. Yes, we all tend to think and measure GPH (I know I do), but when I get around to calculating range, I always end up at least trying to figure MPH at the most economical RPM I have. It is not the lowest GPH I can run though. I estimate MPHbased on conditions I'd expect - for me that is with or against river current, for others it might be ocean current or wind conditions. But bottom line for me when estimating range is MPH and GPH at that speed.

Re: fuel= range

I calculate at max throttle
max burn rate. This gives me
Operation in hours.
It is the worst case senario and
makes sure I get home
