Don't know what it is, but I can tell you it isn't going to work.

Be sure to put deer whistles on yer boat too, so ya don't hit any deer. I use them on our Baja and have NEVER hit a deer.
Also add 4 or 5 fuel line magnets, tornado, and a toilet paper oil filter....you'll be saving so much gas you will have to stop and drain it out every hour.

Re: fuel saver - any one tried it?

The only sure way to reduce your fuel consumption 27% is to use 27% less fuel.

One of the neatest Gas Saving Device Scams occured in the 60's. The device was tested by an independent laboratory and they reported that it actually produced a 25% increase in miles per gallon when used as the manufacture specified. What the ad didn't tell you is that without the device attached the car was driven in the US with 4 quart gallons, with it attached they drove in Canada where the Imperial gallon contains 5 quarts, voila, a 25% miles per gallon increase. ;)

Another $25 gas saving device guaranteed that you could drive for a month on $10 worth of gas, what you received for the money was a handful of $.15 subway tokens. Har, de, har, ha.

And so it goes,,,,,,,,,,,

The Toilet Paper Filters worked perfectly, actually too perfectly, they not only filtered out the dirt but also the entire oil additive package designed to prevent foaming, rust, etc.

;)

Yes you saved $69.95 by not buying it, but that's a savings of up to $1,000.00 or more!
That's the logic they use.

I just took a look at Cobra 3.0's link to the Tornado Fuel Saver....and I fell off my chair laughing, disturbed the whole house and almost wet my pants from over-hilarity. "imagine...a mini tornado inside your engine...continuously whirling air around corners and bends"...ya, available now only on the Atlantic Coast of North Carolina. What a hoot!!

You guys are just plain cruel. There are fuel saving devices that deliver incredible value. The one on my Merc 140 I/O was simple--a DIY project. All somebody had to do was run it a lot with no water to the stern drive pump. Pieces of the rubber impeller gathered inside the water pocket and--presto--instant fuel savings! Every time we ran the boat for an hour, it would overheat, shut down, and wouldn't start for an hour-and-a-half. By my calculations, that's a cool 60% savings. And it doesn't even cost $69.95...

Maybe I'll make one of those infomercials. Hmmmm.

Steve

affa, you're right, they all sound SOOOO great, almost too good to be true, and that's what they are, too good to be true. ;)

Look at it this way, by checking it out you saved the $89 price plus $7 shipping, if these devices worked that good the oil companies would buy the patent and bury it, they have a vested interest in low mileage cars.

There is a guaranteed and verified way to get that kind of mileage increase, buy a new Hybrid car, uses a small gas engine and an electric motor/battery combo, check the September 22, 2003 TIME magazine or Oct/Nov 2003 Mother Earth News, the Toyota Prius delivers 59 MPG city and 51 MPG on the highway. The Honda Civic hybrid also delivers amazing mileage. My next car will likely be one of these, maybe some day they will be on boats, hummmmm.

First off, I don't believe in any of these devices, but the original question, "has anybody tried it?" got totally lost in the discussion. We, including myself, just dismiss these things, but don't really know because we haven't tried one.
Are there any magazines or organizations that actually do try the miracle products and then report their findings? How will we ever know if noone ever tries it? And I am not going to be the one that does! :p

Charles

Yes these pieces of junk have been tested by independent parties and proven not to work. But the gullable still buy them, thanks to the billions of dollars spent on marketing this trash vs. the lack of dollars disputing their idiotic claims. Who would spend a fortune on an infomercial stating these devices don't work?
Here is a real, honest fuel saving method that will work on your boat: Boat Naked. The lack of clothing will lighten the load, thus producing a fuel savings.

Re: fuel saver - any one tried it?

Sorry but I have never tried any of the fuel saving devices for gasoline powered boat engines however if you had a diesel in your boat I would add a fuel heater which increases the volume of fuel before it even gets to the engine.

If you heat up a cup of diesel fuel on the stove, it'll over flow the cup in just a few seconds thus creating more volume of fuel derived from the fuel tank.

..you actualy pick up MORE fuel the longer you drive.....

The percentage ratio of savings I do not know to tell you, but I know the device works, because 3 members of my family had them installed on their Tractor Trailers running over the road long distance and claimed excellent savings each time they pulled in to fuel up.

I would not even think about using this device or method with gasoline powered vehicles of any type.

Now on the lighter side of things.. :)

you could install a device called the CPFS also known as the Cell Phone Fuel Saver! ..becoming very popular these days.
:)
It's a portable audio - receiver type device that enables you to talk (get this) live to other people who are NOT on your boat. amazing! and I know, this item sounds just way too good to be true, but read on!

The kit comes with a little instruction booklet that shows you step by step how to erratically extend your arm and do those YOH type - CALL ME - hand and finger configurations during conversation sessions. Very very nice package.

You are assured to save thousands the second you turn this device on and start talking as your speed automatically decreases by a dramtic 50 percent. Woh!

You will also notice a major savings due to less wind resistance because at exactly the same time you start talking on this device your HEAD mysteriously dissapears up your waste basket.

Go the distance and install one of these little babies in your automotive vehicle and you'll save at least 5 vehicle owners traveling along behind you money at the same time. Whew.. now that's what I'm talking about!

I'm so excited, I think I'll stick a pencil in my eye, just to calm myself.

PB - moving along now.
customerservice@401hosting.com

From their website:

We will make a full refund directly to any consumer who is not completely satisfied with the result of any product within (3) months from the date of purchase.

NOTE: there is an $18.00 (per unit) restocking fee. The shipping/handling charge is obviously non-refundable.
******************************************

Hmmm...full refund, but an 18 dollar restocking fee, plus you pay for shipping both ways.

Considering this is a 50 cent piece of junk, they are still miles ahead!!!!

Ken

Re: fuel saver - any one tried it?

You can heat it, mix it, stir it, run it past magnets, gargle with it, or whatever you want to do to the fuel, but, the amount of energy per gallon measured in BTU's is set by the laws of nature and physics, period. In any given internal comnbustion engine the vast amount of energy is lost to wasted heat through the exhaust and cooling system. According to my old college Physics text books, the theoretical efficiency of an gas driven internal combustion engine is 55%, the actual efficiency is about 30%. Diesels do a bit better with 70% and 35%. Due mainly to the higher compression ratios. Many of these Gas Saving Devices have been tested by the US Government, the results are always the same, little or no efficiency change. Many of the ad testimonials to increased mileage are self fulling wishes, you spent a lot of money and you make it work, usually by driving very carefully to maximise the mileage. Sorry folks, you just can't change the laws of Physics.

Slowly Sinking:
Well put...the laws of physics (as we understand them today) prevail. Don't be fooled into thinking that the automakers wouldn't love to find a way to increase fuel economy by 25% for about 50 bucks. If it was out there every new car would have it.

Re: fuel saver - any one tried it?

If there was a product that actually worked to increase fuel economy, chances are the auto manufacturers wouldn't touch it. First the oil companies would crap themselves, and the car manufacturer doesn't really care. I drive a cherokee with an inline 6 engine. There are several easy and cheap things I can do (and have done) that increases mileage about 5mpg! These are things that would have been extremely easy to design into the engine and probably cheaper to build...yet they still didn't do it.
