Fuel Sending Unit testing & replacement Parts?

My fuel gauges stoped working, the one on the dash and on the tank. I have a 1994 Wellcraft Coastal 238. Someone told me to test the sending unit/guage with a ohm meter or jump accross the terminals but it still does not move and I am not getting the beep signal through the meter. Can it simply be a bad sending unit guage? If so, where do I find this, I already did a quick search and did not find any.

The unit is a Rochester Guage Inc. of Texas, Dallas, U.S.A., 240-30 ohm, 5-2071

Any help would be appreciated.

Check out this site for tests:

web page

With the key in the ON position, if you ground the send wire on the sender, the gauge should go to full...

If you jumped across the terminals, then you either have a wiring problem, or a bad gauge. Use your ohm meter and put it on both ends of each wire running to the sending unit. Or, you could replace the wire, then the gauge or vice/versa.
