Hello again. I am resurrecting volvo penta 125b, I was going bonkers with the carburator fitting (I posted some earlier)...I was questioning the fiiting (was getting a small 'spray' around it, you all suggested I replace screw (hollow) and washer)....got the new one via fedex, put it on still spray, small fire when I tried to start it (spark from starter), was prepared for that and extinguished it quickly.....I have a SECOND engine that was given to me...I didn't want to take the carb off of it (breaking this so important fitting 'seal'), but after looking at original I see a VERY slight gap on fitting (probably result of cross thread and not "SEATING" right)....ok, so now I have replaced carb with the one from the second engine....I now can FLIP/WORK the throttle lever (on side of carb) and actually see fuel spraying down inside the carb.....but still no singing from the engine....she'll crank...not even a hint of wanting to start....
I have read some post on ALIGNING MARKS....there is a small 'DOT' indentation on two wheels (belted wheels) on the front of the engine. Is there some meaning to these? are they suppose to be in line with something and if not won't start?
thanks
