Fuel system

With today's gas being what it is, I wanted to run a fuel/ water seperating filter in the fuel system of my outboard. The complete system is new (tank, hoses, vent ect) because this is a restored boat. I am running a 90 hp Merc three cylinder (1990) engine.
I am using a permenent tank plumbed to the splashwell with a bulkhead fitting feeding a primer bulb. The total run to the engine is about 3 feet. Can anyone see a problem using a simple spin-on Seirra seperator between the primer and the tank? Are these effective?
I also plan on winterizing with a fogged engine and an empty tank each decommision. Any thoughts?

Re: Fuel system

Should work fine. At lay-up time, don't forget to add stabil or seafoam or any other fuel system additive and run the engine long enough to get the mixture into the carbs. No - you can't run them totally dry unless you pull the drain plugs if the carbs have one.

They do have drain plugs but I like your idea better. I just wonder if ANY addititve is truly effective against this new gas collecting water.

I was concerned about the filter causing starvation problems. I am not very familiar with Seirra seperators.
