Are there specific fuel/water separators for mechanical or electric fuel pumps? If so, why?

Hello,

My block cracked and replaced it with a block that did not accomadate a fuel pump push rod. It was never drilled out because it was a fuel injection set up. I added a holley red marine fuel pump with a pressure switch. I am using the same type of water/fuel sep as the mechanical set up and it works great.
Chuck

Cool thanks. Is it best to mount it before or after an electric pump with a top of the tank pickup line?

My setup has the fuel tank to the water fuel seperator, Output of water fuel seperator is the electric holley red marine pump (mounted lower than the water fuel sep )and then to the carb. Works great

Installation instructions for water separators say to mount them on the inlet side of a fuel pump, never on the pressure side.
