Take A closer look at that. #18 is on the top of the pump and is the failer line if the diaphram fails. #16 is from outlet side of filter base to suction side of pump. #17 is from pressure side of pump to carb.(thats why they list 5 different ones). hose from tank is not shown.

Ah! We have a winner! That is exactly right. I was looking at the diagram wrong. So yes, apology rescinded.

I was the one that traced the lines, and told you to that you had nothing to apologize for!

Only kidding...

It's really simple...the OP has a 3.0L, and the only place he needs (or has) to install a filter is in the rubber fuel hose going TO his fuel pump.

Wow, I had no idea I was about to spark such a controversy! Thank you to all who posted replies and interpretations, you all are very knowledgeable on all things boating ( and other things as well I'm sure) and very helpful indeed. Having read all posts, and viewed diagrams, consesus is that I shall install a spin on filter base with at least 3/8 " lines at the stern, and use a 10 micron element, any other doos and dont's. I sell Wix Filter products, any thoughts on whether or not to use these, generally it's HD fleet and equipment applications, but marine? Thanks guys
