Hi everyone. I need a little help in ordering a fuel/water seperator for my 3.0 engine. I am confused with the inlet sizes of the seperator head. Some say 1/4 inch and others say 3/8. My fuel line is 3/8 rubber hose. What barbs do I order, or do they come with the kit? Any help would be appreciated so that I can order the right one. Again, thanks in advance!

1/4" NPT fitting on the filter will work. 3/8" would be better. The fittings you need are adapters from male pipe thread to hose barb. Depends on the pipe hole and the hose. You can get adapters for any combination, such as 1/4" mpt to 3/8" hose, or 3/8" to 3/8".

hope it helps

I presume you are talking about a inline 4 cylinder MerCruiser I/O? If you are discussing an Outboard, the 3/8" ID fuel fitting is minimum. As a matter of course,I would use the 3/8" on that I/O as well, as 1/4" ID may be marginal.

Thanks J martin and Chris for the reply. That explains it. I will order the one with 3/8 outlets then..It is a 2003 3.0 engine. Thanks again for taking the time to reply!
