Is it possible for boat to use gasoline or diesel?.Plate on boat engine floor area indicates this. MCM carb 5.0l LX 305 cid 230 hp Maxum boat. I looked at fuel system section in manual,it says nothing about this which I have never heard of -either fuel being used.

No, the engine is gasoline only (From the factory).
That plate wasn't attached to the fuel tank was it? Indicating it could be used for either.

Post a picture of the plate, never seen one that said that.

Ayuh,.... Welcome Aboard,... Gasoline, 'n Diesel are Not interchangeable, in Any motor, it's 1 or the other,....
'n yer's is a Gasoline motor....

I too, would love to see that tag yer talkin' 'bout...

I will post the tag picture but I now realize it is a rating for the tank to use either depending on the engine.

I was under the impression that some military motors could run anything, Gas, Diesel, JP etc.

Those are special built outboards, not Mercruiser 5.0L V8 Chevy motors.
