I did attempt to negotiate with the broker, got no real response either way.

You should negotiate 'through' a broker, not 'with' a broker. He's not the seller ...

You never get something for nothing. You're better off paying pump price than the dealer's burdened cost.

Odd, I usually make sure to EMPTY the tanks of any boats I'm selling! Vehicles end up full, and I have yard tractor gas to spare. Not once has the seller negotiated the level of fuel, they get what they get. (of course, this is also for under 25' boats, so max of maybe 30 gallons.)

Now you have me wondering how much fuel is in the boat I just bought ;)

Re: Full fuel upon purchase?

Both my new boats came with full tanks of gas. Wasn't even part of the negotiation and wasn't expected by myself. Even when I had the Bayliner repowered from 2-stroke to 4-stroke, the marina replaced the 50:1 gas with straight unleaded - full tank.

But that's on smaller bowriders....

Re: Full fuel upon purchase?

Every new vehicle I bought has had a full tank upon delivery. Not boats. On the way to the marina where I own a dry stack the tank is filled with ethanol free gas as it is less expensive than at the marina where only ethanol free gas is sold. My current boat has a 90 gallon tank. Why add the cost of the gas ~ probably the least expensive in the dealers area and containing ethanol ~~ to the price of the boat?

My recent used purchase (Chris Craft concept 18) came with 1/2 tank but I have no idea what it is and how old it is so I'll be siphoning that out and re-purposing it in my buddies 4 wheeler/snowblower/lawnmowers and filling it with new fuel and treatments myself. Feel better about knowing whats in there.

I would NOT expect it.

With the price of fuel today, the cost can be significant. That cost has to go somewhere.
