full throttle bog down

I have a 1988 mercury classic 50. runs great till I give it full throttle then it boggs down and looses all momentum. if I back it down a little bit it runs fine. does anyone have any suggestions? :confused:

First suggestion, don't run it like that.

If it fails at a certain engine speed, it'd be electronics.

If it goes strong for a few seconds, then bogs, it's likely fuel delivery, which would be fuel lines, tank vent, fuel pump.

My motor was doing the same exact thing a couple weeks ago. Change your spark plugs and replace the fuel line from the tank to the motor. That seemed to fix my issue in my 1999 xr6 .... Hope it helps

When you replace the fuel line get a new primer bulb as well
