Fun new tool to mess with!

I tear down a lot of motors, some to repair, some to part out. Last weekend I bought a Sears Craftsman 19.2V drill kit that came with an impact drill as part of the kit. I bought the adapters to use 1/4" and 3/8" drive sockets and tried it on an Evinrude V6 powerhead with LOTS of bolts to remove. It made quick work of 1/4-20 bolts with 3/8" or 7/16" heads. It stumbled on a couple 5/16" bolts with 1/2" heads but did get most of them. All in all it made the job much easier and quicker! Even breaking a couple bolts loose with a socket wrench then using the impact to thread them out was quicker than simply using the wrench alone. I found myself looking for something else to tear down just to use the tool more! As my wife said, the only difference between men and boys is the price of their toys...

I love my impacts. Be careful they become addictive. I've even drug mine into the house on several occasions and that fact that it is cordless lets me travel with it too.

I've got a 24v version. Only bolts it has been unable to move also could not be moved with an air gun.

Makes removing the flywheel bolt a piece of cake.

dbkerley. As long as your not taking it into the bedroom at night, you'll be okay. And if you are, you can't post about it here.

I hadn't thought of that. I'll have to speak to .... On second thought, I better not. She might use it to screw the door shut and then I would be on the couch.
